About the Artist

Mark Mulholland B.A. (Hons)

Mark Mulholland graduated from Edinburgh College of Art (sculpture) in 1993 and was awarded the RSA John Kinross Scholarship to Florence, Italy. During his six year stay in the Tuscan capital he worked on several private commissions. He spent three years working with the renowned ‘Il Cesello’, Cipriani family bronze workshop and foundry in Sesto Fiorentino. There he honed his sculptural modelling skills and technical casting expertise. On his return to Scotland, Mulholland has worked as a teacher of art and design at Firrhill High School. Recent work has included the ‘St. Peter’s Pieta’, made to commemorate the centenary year in 2007 of St. Peter’s Church in Morningside, Edinburgh. Mulholland creates his sculptures by the modelling of clay or plasticine then the casting of the work into plaster, resin or bronze. You can also contact me at: whatarelief.mbm@googlemail.com
