My name is Steven Johnson and i am from a small town called Wickford in Essex. I was born in 1980 in Harold Wood in Essex. I started painting in 1999 after leaving college due to long term illness problems.my art education is limited to once a week drawing lessons with a fine art teacher for two years while at college studying 3D design. I admire to many artist to list but the ones who have had the most notable influence on my work are - Francis Bacon, Peter Blake, Edgar Degas, Lucian Freud, Edward Hopper, L.S Lowry, Edvard Munch and Carel Weight. I am inspired by the energy and chaos of the city viewed from the boredom of the suburbs and by the beauty of the ordinary and mundane.
