Lisa V Robinson is an emerging contemporary painter, currently based in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.

A graduate of Manchester School of Art, winner of the Joan Day painting bursary and nominated for the New Lights Art Prize, Lisa specialises in creating artwork that explores the possibilities of paint as a medium, whilst attempting to find a delicate balance between abstraction and figuration.

"My enquiry into process painting stems from my overwhelming attraction to the sensation of oil paint; from the satisfaction in observing the progression of a line from start to finish, to the tactile sensation of applying generous amounts of paint. The marks produced by the brush, particularly its personal characteristics provide intrigue and an appealing element within the painting. Consequently, the work can often allude to a memory of a sensation, perhaps experienced in a previous piece. Instead of representing the process of painting as abstract, I wanted to create a fictional playful stage, where myself and the reader could engage in a game of interpretation"
