1992-1994 Plymouth College of Art & Design. Btec National Diploma (Distinction) General Art & Design
Originally a mason I studied as a mature student a Btec General Art & Design at Plymouth followed by a BA(Hons) Fine Art at Exeter (University Of Plymouth) where I studied under John Virtue. The present body of work was stimulated by pathways. both real and psychological .
The paintings are not direct representations of observed pathways but remembered experiences, imagined pathways, mistaken pathways and pathways aspired too. There is a discourse that is inevitable with the subject that resonates with notions of yearning and choices.
Found Compositions / Blue String (Photography) The images are records of ‘sculptural drawings’ found in situ and manipulated by the weather. These ‘drawings’ change daily and are very much dependent on the wind and rain for their structure. I have been returning to record these changes on a regular bases over a period of 4 years.
