Charles grew up in Hampshire England. His second home is Los Angeles California, where he has spent the last 4 years, studying the media industry and selling and exhibiting his works. Currently living back in Europe, He paints, inspired by color, texture, and emotion.

Rather than including recognizable objects in his work, Charles uses the elements of painting itself – color, line, shape, brush strokes, texture, and light. And his use of mixed media Charles could be said to be working under the umbrella of abstract expressionism.

Although not wanting to give his works such a specific label, his paintings bare a great similarity with the aims and style of such work.

Painting is a wonderful medium for emotion, “I see my art as the creation of feeling and energy, bright, passionate and thought provoking”.

Charles’s pictures are unique and can go through many transformations – a painting that may have started using one color or specific painting technique, may be completely different to the finished work.

“Naming my work is something I rarely do if ever. I feel my work should be free from pre-expectations, and open and free for anyone to experience and enjoy my work anyway they wish. I don’t like a persons mind being preluded when viewing my work, it is the feeling of the abstract experience itself, when you are free to think anything and everything, without that named distraction” charles lee -

His paintings are upbeat and colorful yet unique in style, versatile in media, which he hopes exude both passion and vibrancy, yet having the ability to grab attention and compel the viewer.

Charles Lee graduated from Portsmouth University in England 2001 with a BA Honors Degree in graphical media and Fine Art. He has been selling his art all over the world to private buyers and has completed a prestigious show in Los Angeles Bergamot Station, at the James Gray gallery, at the beginning of 2008, one of the biggest art industry complexes in southern California.

“I enjoy painting immensely and hope to continue on the success I’ve had so far in America, painting for me is my escape and I hope it is for any one that enjoys my work”. charles lee -.
